St. John's East Foundation

About the Foundation

The St. John's East Foundation was established in 1996 to manage the charitable funds of the Club. These funds are raised through fund raising activities, principally, the annual gala event, Wheels and Deals. The Foundation is managed by a five member Board elected from the members of the Rotary Club of St. John's East. The Board meets three times a year, in January, June and October to review applications for funding. In addition to grants to community based organizations who meet the established criteria, the Foundation also provides longer term sustaining grants to two Club initiated projects, The Rotary Read-A-Long Program and the Adopt-A-School Program. Smaller grants to a maximum of $500.00 can be made available to individuals under special circumstances e.g. travel grants for health or educational purposes. These grants must be sponsored by a member of the Rotary Club. Since its inception the St. John's East Foundation has awarded grants to local community groups and individuals totaling more than $600,000.
